Because I love learning and love sharing
what I learn with others, I think it's time to share a random tip of the day
every now and then. Yes?
First random tip of the day...drumroll
please....
Lighten and whiten teeth in less than
two minutes.
I don't get out much so I'm well aware
that a lot of you may already know this little trick, but I thought to share
just in case there's somebody out there who hasn't tried it yet. And because
let's face it, whether you're a writer or a reader (or a human being for that
matter) drinking teas and coffee has become a longtime hard habit to break. Not
to mention colas and berries tend to darken teeth.
BAKING SODA.
That's right plain ol', good ol' baking
soda.
I learned this trick many months ago and
was so excited and amazed that it actually really worked.
I recently went to the dentist and mentioned
my baking soda discovery to my dental hygienist.
Though I was more than afraid
to share it with her, thinking she might ruin all the fun-I was 100% certain
she'd scold me for one reason or another, but to my surprise, she agreed with
my little discovery and had just recommended the same tip to a patient earlier
in the day. No wonder we get along so great :D.
I realize they'll still might be a
naysayer, but I'm good with my dental hygienist approving and as long as I
don't abuse it, I feel pretty OK about it :)
So here it is. Baking soda
wonders.
**Note:
ALWAYS check with your dentist before trying any new whitening techniques. NOT
advisable to use on veneers and dentures. May discolor.
1. Mix a generous amount of baking
soda in a small cup/bowl/container.
2. Use a new (separate)
toothbrush.
3. Add a little water at a time
by dipping a toothbrush under the facet and into the cup. Careful not to
add too much water.
Paste should be thick not
runny. If it gets thinned out too much simply add more baking soda to
desired consistency. If too thick, slowly add more water.
4. Leave paste on front of teeth for
1-2 minutes. Rinse.
May brush teeth after with minty
toothpaste for that extra clean feeling.
Use a Sonic rotating toothbrush for an
extra, extra dentist clean feel.
And that's it!!
Voila. Bling. Bling.
Repeat 1x a week,
or like my dental hygienist says, "When needed."
I've also heard this technique used with
lemon as well. However, I’m too chicken to allow lemon to sit on my teeth as I
knew a person who loved to eat lemons as a child and it messed up their enamel
big time. My dental hygienist agreed with me on that one.
So there you have it.
A quick and easy dazzling pick-me-up smile.
If baking soda isn't your thing and you
prefer to use a store bought whitener, my absolute favorite is CrestWhitestrips Professional Strength.
But it's gotta be the PROFESSIONAL
STRENGTH.
P.S. Nothing like waking up at 3
a.m. from a slumber sleep and inspiration nagging to write a post on
baking soda and a vibrant smile.
Must be meant to be :)
Here’s to a NEW VIBRANT you!

While I've heard of this, I've never tried it. Now that I know how to use it property (thanks to you!), I'll give it a go. Much less expensive than buy the products or seeing the dentist. Two thumbs up!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sheri! Appreciate your comment and sharing my post! XOXO Hope you like what you see :)))
ReplyDeleteCool Martha, I am off to try it :-)
ReplyDeleteI did the professional dentist one years ago. It was yucky but it worked. Haven't done it since.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea to try out!
