Inspiration of the Day

Just wanted to stop in and wave hello from the writing cave and share a little inspiration. I'm up to my eyeballs, trying to pound in as many words as I can to complete my WIP (only 22, 499k left!).

Then I have some edits patiently waiting. I'm more than ready to tackle the rewrite and can't wait to get started. Must we have to sleep? Never a dull moment in the life of a writer.

So here's my inspiration for the day:

“A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him.”
~Sidney Greenberg

“All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them.”
~ Walt Disney

”I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
~ Thomas Edison

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
~Abraham Lincoln

How about you….what are you deep in today?

A few good writing links

Hi there!

I came across a few great links I thought to share.

First I'll start off with the When Do I Give Up link over at Word Serve Water Cooler.

Ever heard of the English novelist John Creasy?  After 753 rejections he didn't give up and…. well, click on the When Do I Give up link to find out more.

Also if you are in need of some encouragement or just need a pick-me-up, come visit my encouragement page on my site HERE

"Regardless of what you do or don’t decide to do, giving up is not an option. It’s never an option. Never." ~Joanne Kraft

Author Rick Daley is guest blogging on Nathan Bransford's blog about SEO aka Search Engine Optimization. Some great info there!

Last but not least, ever wonder what the difference is between Romance and Romance suspense? Susan Sleeman does a great breakdown HERE

Have a great weekend!!

~NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE~

How many times have you seen the word impossible?

Lots, right?

And how many times have you noticed the word actually consists of two words with meaning?

Probably never.

Leave up to the beautiful Audrey Hepburn to spell it out:

"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'M POSSIBLE." ~ Audrey Hepburn

The next time you feel something is impossible, try changing your perspective. Analyze all angles.

Need more encouragement?

This video ought to do it. I have to admit, watching it made me teary eyed and I am certain it will touch you in a very special way too. But most importantly it will inspire you. It truly shows that NOTHING is impossible—absolutely NADA.

There simply are no words for this incredible person. Life without limbs and yet nothing is impossible for Nick Vujicic. Here's a short clip of inspiration beyond words:

Katy Perry's Firework

Okay, so Katy Perry's new song FIREWORK will not, cannot get out of my head. It's one of those catchy tunes that just linger in your memory. You know the ones. You hear it once and then the beat swarms its way deep, deep down and you can't get it out of your mind.

Why do I think it hooked me?

First off, it has such an energetic beat that it literally makes me wanna "ignite the light and let it shine." (This is part of the lyrics. Please do not get it confused with anything else.)

Secondly, have you listened to the lyrics? WOW! Talk about deep. I don't care what profession you are in or striving for or what's going on in your life. Everyone can find meaning in this song. Everyone.

Apparently, I am not the only one who is inspired. YA author Elana Johnson wrote up an awesome post about FIREWORK here What We Can Learn From Katy Perry

The next time you feel like "wasted space" or itching to give up, turn up the volume and REALLY listen to this song. YOU ARE A FIREWORK. No doubt. (See below for lyrics and official video.)

To all my writer buddies trying to get their foot in the door, this song's for you! This is your year to shine. Let the show begin. "'Cause baby you're a firework, come on show 'em what you're worth…"

To all my writer buddies already in the hallway…keep 'em coming! Keep shining.

As for me, I'm gonna do my best to shoot across the sky. Care to join me?

To Katy Perry—you rock! Thanks for such an amazing song.

Q: How about you? Are you hooked too?
